You can use any combination of fruit for this recipe. Just keep the proportions the same. Frozen blackberries, blueberries or chopped rhubarb work very well. This is a great dessert any time of the year. 


  • 6 cups thick sliced strawberries
  • 6 cups chopped apples (1/2 inch)


  • 4 cups blueberries
  • 4 cups apples
  • 4 cups strawberries
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 3 Tablespoons flour
  • 2 Tablespoons lemon juice

Crumble Topping

  • ½ cup melted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¾ cup rolled oats
  • ½ cup flour
  • ½ cup chopped pecans (optional)


Step by Step Instructions

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350F (180C).

Step 2

Slice strawberries. Peel and cut apples. Combine fruit with sugar, flour and lemon juice. Transfer fruit to a 9” x 13” ovenproof dish, and then scrape out the bowl well to re-use for topping.

Step 3

Combine topping ingredients in same bowl. Sprinkle crumble topping evenly over top, pushing down lightly. Place in preheated oven and bake about 45-55 minutes until bubbly around the edges.

Step 4

Cool and serve with vanilla ice cream.
